I’m early in the build of the Syren. The picture shows a base for the model but none is included in the box or on the parts list. Should have one been included and if not how do I build one. Thanks for your help.

Hi Tom, welcome to this truly excellent SOS forum.

A base is not, apparently, included in the kit. I’m away from my Syren build at the moment but check the parts list, which will show if it was specified.

There’s a variety of ways to mount the Syren, as indeed with all builds. You ask at a perfect time if you are early in your build because you can plan for pedestal mounts, as an example, before closing up the hull. There are a lot of great builders on this site who can advise the advantages and disadvantages of the various other mounting methods. I’m going to fabricate a cradle arrangement from pear once I am ready to transfer my build from its foam construction cradle.

Have you considered starting a build log of your Syren? This is one of the best ways to interact with members.

Most if not all kits do not include a base or pedestals. If they did it would only add to the cost of the kit and more importantly most models builders prefer to design the on unique way of mounting the model.
You can go onto YouTube for videos that will show you various styles of bases and how to make them. Or you can purchase bases and pedestals from Model Expo or Bluejacket Ship Crafters on line.
