Hi All. I have finally settled on my scratch project. A 1:50 scale model of the Tally Ho. I managed to download a copy of the Albert Strange booklet on Tally Ho. In this I got the frames and lines plan. Ran a little arithmetic and scaled it to 1:50. Next step is to find a laser cutting service to cut out the various frames.. A crucial step for me since the accuracy is important. I don't have the tools necessary to do this myself and get the accuracy I want.

i like the idea of your project . where are you located? i'm in the us(florida) perhaps 2 sets of frames could be cut which might be cost effective if we split the cost

Looking forward to seeing photos of the model as you progress. I looked at the Albert Strange booklet and it looks like a beautiful yacht assuming it is the one below and the website: https://albertstrange.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Tally-Ho-Booklet-Lo-Res.pdf

Yes Allan, that's the one. I have been watching Leo rebuild the actual yacht since the start and am even now following his journey back to the UK to sail it in the Fastnet in 2027. I was planning on doing a William Fife design but just couldnt get decent info on the Fifes. Maybe in time it will happen.

I am on assignment in Durban South Africa. Based in Johannesburg. Presently hunting a laser service here in Durban. Ill keep you posted. See attached a pdf to be printed on A3 size. The measurements should work out to the correct1:50 scale. LOA should be 349,44mm. Sorry! Not in inches :)

Hi ED - I have been watching Leo rebuild the actual yacht since the start and am even now following his journey back to the UK to sail it in the Fastnet in 2027. A 100 years after Tally Ho won the event in 1927.
More on Tally Ho here - This page shares the Fastnet Race
