The African Queen

Iv been building a few models for a friend of mine and the last one he asked me to do was this African Queen, and i, in my opinion, the instructions are shocking or at least mostly none existent for most of it. apart from the lack of instructions i was also surprised how inaccurate the model is to the actual boat in the film, as i downloaded it and played it over and over to look at different shots of the boat and apart from the actual style of boat the rest is nothing like. if the model was my own i would have re-shaped it to mach it and changed mostly everything as well as add a lot that's missing like the hanker and winch like i did with this one. so just a warning to anyone getting this kit, Don't expect to much.

Very nice … I am curious about one detail. The flasks with O2 and H2, they look like a time machine brought them there? … sort of out of place, considering the 1950s and steam engine onboard?

Lol to be honest it was one of the last things I did and had, had enough of it so I just painted them and stuck them in. Really the colour of them in the film was both a red colour and didn't have anything written on them but it will do for him he's happy and it and would be easy to change if he did want them like in the film but as it is the whole boat is nothing like the original African queen.

I see Bogart full of leeches and Hepburn taking them off. Impressive film, but your little boat certainly fits this feeling. Nice to see her in full color for once.

I have in my memory that these were 2 torpedoes. Long time since I saw that movie.

That’s a cracking job. I built one a couple of years ago. Good to see you used an old bit of tarp for the canopy rather than the nasty candy stripe thing in the kit.
