The Donald David, a Maine Lobster Boat, launched 1956

Finally; I have assembled the aft deck of the Donald David. It will be installed with pins/clips that that will allow removing in order to install/maintain the rudder. The surface of the aft deck will be painted white, as it & the hull were on the real Donald David.

Thanks, Jan.
I had the good fortune of getting lots of info from Billy West, the lobster man that built the real Donald David and
I got to ride with him several times when I was 17-18 years old; I'm 79 now. Hoping to finish the model soon.
Wow that is a time to remember. I was a bit younger (12-13 years old) when iI spent the summer Lobstering with my Grandfather. Lot's of good memories.

Finally, I have ordered the electronic running gear for the Donald David. I placed the order yesterday with Hobby Models, Inc, in Glendora, CA.
And, I purchased paint (white & green), locally, for the hull.
All that and the foredeck, is most of all remains. It's getting very exciting."

And---- I switch again! The rudders that I saw in the catalog won't fit under the rear deck, The rear deck is lower than on most boats.
Since I had some scraps of stainless steel, I got creative and came up with this. I will round the rear edge some more. I'm hoping it will work well.
Happy modeling,
Steven

Wow. Stainless is not easy to work with, but you’ve produced a fine-looking rudder.
