The FORELL Quartett in four Scales

Today an unsend postcard arrived from France with the intersting detail of the deck grills in cleaning in front of the french Torpedoboat ARC arround 1905 - it does look helpfull:

...also the wobbling gangway is interesting for me.

The printing was really blurry by enlarging.

The rivets on the propellers' protection (towards the hull) aren't visiable - so they do not give any shadow and must have been from a flat topside type aliningvwith the surrounding part, weren't they?

Hello,

I was able to lay my hand on a drawings of the Normand tripple expansion steam engine of 1891:

The low pressure steam is directed in a pair of cylinders so it is a tripple expansion but a IV-cylinder engine.

For me of interest in particular is the massive engine head, as it is all you can Catch your eye by looking into the engine rooms through the opened hatches.

Here it is obvious the engines top isn't a simple task - balsawood may be a solution?

P.S.edit
You can stop eating, but never stop adding information to your project's pile!

Here I pictured some of my postcards so we do have some more interesting details of typical French torpedoboat building:
Polish_20250819_233648529.jpg
Here the grills in the foreground of ARC and the gangway with a plenty of details Like the complex sunsails stanchions and the rescue rings.
Polish_20250819_233557340.jpg
Again ARC with a clean view into the hull structure under the grill Deck - a construction Marco Polo brought to Italy (and first into their galleys) from his expierince with Chinese shipbuilding. Here the sunsail's underconstructure also well visiable.

Here FLAMBERGE in later years a second mast was errected for the radio telegraphie and the lightsignaling.

Polish_20250819_233421752.jpg

Here in front of SUBICANE the boats of typical French origin - In have to do some Research to figure out more details about them.

Polish_20250810_115230286.jpg
Here the stored boat in BALLISTE , under the bright canvas is the toilet. Also of interest the yards of the sunsail the end of the netting before the stern, and the absoloutly unrounded edges of the Normand "bulleyes".

Polish_20250819_233333729.jpg
Here the light signaling apparatus is clearly to See - also the typical Normand's ship yard square "bulleyes" - offering more daylight in the officers accomodations. Here a big tricolore is in use.

Polish_20250818_094816339.jpg
Here the rudder engine - hopefully it is covered in a housing - otherwise this will be a tricky bit of cake to cew!
