Hello fellow ship modelers. I'm a guy who grew up across from the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum with its beautiful whaleboat there in the yard for kids to play in. Moby Dick beware. After retiring I attempted to build one of the Model Expo whaleboats. It was a disaster. But, never-the -less I persevered. The second one (a few years later) was a success. Then my brother wanted one and my other brother and my two daughters each wanted one so I got pretty good at crafting them together. I'm sure Model Expo didn't mind. In between whaleboat builds I made a few other ships like the Syren, which I gave to my nephew, and the Syren's Cheerful. That one adorns our tiny living room. Funny story, I built one of the whale ships and as i was turning it to begin rigging, it tipped a little. Daughter Heather was there and was sure it was foundering so she threw her arms around it and broke off all the masts. Ah well, the fun was in the build. She took it and gave it to her boyfriend who makes dioramas and used it as a wreck scene. Which it was. Anyway, now I'm laying back and starting the Fair American. Getting my table saw out to make a new keel.
