We all love to tie all of the clove hitches required for ratlines and realize how small they can be.

I ran into this picture on a photography site that I follow. It is of a clove hitch of a horse hair tied around a human hair. It won an award in the "Evident Inamge of the Year Awards" in the category of Materials Science.

Enjoy and be thankful we aren't tying a thousand of these instead of with threads/ropes.

"The photographer took several attempts to tie the knot ...."
Ja Ja - not every photographer is building ship models.....

I have tried to use clove hitches many times for my ratlines but they never stay tied. Now I just use a simple overhand knot, doubled. Does anyone have a better results than I do with clove hitches?
