Still rigging the Discovery 1789. I'm looking at the topgallant sheets. Lees says that up to 1790 the topsail lifts acted as the topgallant sheets. How did this work? How did they control the clues of the topgallant sails? he does say "see entry under this heading" but I can't connect this to anything.
PS I think I figured it out.
PPS Yup, I've got it. I had a nap and when I woke up I remembered reading about the lifts being used as sheets. it was in the topmast like section.
