Most of my blocks are from Dry Dock but I've had to make some fiddle blocks. I made a little tumbler, a jar lined with sandpaper, and tumbled some blocks for a hour and nothing happened. Does anyone have a link on a how-to for a tumbler that works?

Dry Dock sells beautiful violin/fiddle blocks! Though maybe you just like the process of making your own?

Well, how did I miss that. RedfaceRedface Thanks Paul. I'm planning an order for block from DDM so I guess it would be foolish not to spend another $5-10 since the freight will already be done. I'm going into the hospital for a couple of days so I thought I would take my rigging plan and write out a DDM order to kill the boredom.

Hah, late to the parade as usual. I diddled around with trying to "customize" blocks a couple of years ago.

An old pill bottle lined with sandpaper, a "paddle" lined with sandpaper, a small brass rod and a TV coax cable connector for a bushing in the cap. I found it worked best when chucked in a cordless drill at a medium speed. After a lot of experimenting I decided the kit blocks were too "ugly" to use whether spun down or out of the box.

I hope your hospital stay is not to long.
