The kit is well packaged, divided into 2 boxes, 1&2, which makes better sense rather than stock piling everything on top of each other where parts can be damaged.
On opening the boxes the first thing that hits you are the plan sheets and instructions.
There are 2 Massive plan sheets incorporating Plans A, B,C & D. After this there are 10 other plans numbered 1-10, on a confusing note plans 1-6 are incorporated on the opposite side of the instructions( obviously try to minimise sheet usage) which does help in a way, but you have to hunt and organise the instructions also regards you chosen language and organise this so it's more straight forward and easy to use. Plans 7-10 are as is and much more easy to use.
WOOD :
There are 5 sheets of plywood incorporating the False keel and between 15-18 bulkheads all that's need for building the frame. Next up there are 2 sheets of thinner plywood for all the Decks and Galleries. There are another 7 sheets of various size for Cannon carriages, galleries, Gun ports, Crows nests etc...
There are also 4 bundles of various woods and thickness for planking, decking etc..
DETAILED PARTS.
There are 11 short pieces of silver photo etc for various things like Hinges, Lanterns etc.. 3 of these look to be cheap strops for the deadeyes, which I won't be using as I intend to use modelling wire for the strops and chainplates bought separately.
All the Architectural pieces are done in cast metal which I think has been downgraded from the older kit models of this ship. That said the mouldings look fabulous and very detailed. A couple of them will take some fitting as they are quite heavy, working with so much cast metal especially at the bow, there will be a need to dry fit a lot of wood and metal together to get the correct fitting before permanently fixing it. It's of course easier to work wood rather than metal.
Cannons are all in cast metal 26 dummy Cannons for the lower deck, and 54 Full Cannons for the upper decks.
Deadeyes and Blocks are all wood, thread is a let down, most all in a shiny beige/gold colour and no black thread. This is of no matter as I am used to replacing most threads in kits and of which I have plenty in stock to do so.
Flags are a kind of silk screen/paper not sure if I will use these, maybe the pennant ones, but will probably try and get fabric ones from a couple of companies I know.
Finally there is also a Small Dusek/Mamoli catalogue booklet with kits from both manufacturers.
There are a lot more pieces I photographed but I can only post up to 25 so if anyone wants a closer look at anything specific just let me know.
All in all I am very pleased and impressed with the kit. Obviously there will be a few changes and upgrades along the way, but what kit doesnt need this, there is nothing here that isn't insurmountable, and once finished builds up into a beautiful ship from a period when the Dutch ruled the waves.
I hope you all enjoy this unboxing as I have and if there are any questions I will try my best to answer them.
All the best and happy building.
