I started construction in December 2020. So I will do a brief summary of the previous episodes.

Here is the box I received from Miami :
Confederacy_001.jpg

I skip the description of the content of the box. Almost all the pieces are in basswood. Almost all of the pieces are in basswood. This wood is not the best for our models. It is far from having the quality of pear, cherry or even walnut.
The bow consists of 7 pieces :

I choose to simulate the caulking by inserting a strip of black paper between each plank of the deck :
Confederacy_016.jpg

A part of the starboard side of the hull structure will remain apparent :
Confederacy_013.jpg

The skeleton of the hull is under construction :

Some more presentable photos

The next episodes in the following posts ...

I want to test first if I understood correctly the insertion of images

Kind regards
Fred

Hello again,
In this episode, the planking of the hull ...
I simulated the caulking with a black marker on the edge of the strips.
The quality of the strips posed a lot of problems for me. Their width and thickness was not constant!
Below, the same strip thickness varies from 1.58mm to 1.18mm !

I'll skip the very classic details of planking, wood staining, etc.

I started the improvements from that point on. The function of the galleries was to be the officers' toilets. The side windows were therefore mostly fake. This is why in the following photos there is only one open skylight. I was inspired for this by the replica of the Hermione.

So I also represented the interior of the galleries as well as the (sliding) doors

Next episode : The interior design and furniture of the large room...

I made the parquet in the large room with a plotter, on a sheet of beech veneer :

Here is the table (cherry wood). All the following furnitures are made from scratch :
Confederacy_136.jpgConfederacy_137.jpg
The chairs are made with photo-etched remains from a previous model, the armchair is in cherry and basswood :

The start of the second captain's cabin with the alcove and the work table :

All pre-assembled parts :

Blank assembly of the bulkheads and beams of the upper deck. Only the port side will stay visible.

And finally, the main deck

That's all for now. I am currently building the cannons and the gun carriages and there are a lot of parts and operations...

Kind regards.
Fred

This is a an impressive model your build is a very high standard. This model is on my wish list so I'll be watching your progress. Have you thought about rigging the ship?
Tony
Yes, I think I am going to full rig the ship. But it will be in a second stage.

Very precise and accurate work - Looking very good
Hope to see much more progress posts and photos of your project

and btw: welcome on board of our forum Thumbsup

Thank you to all who follow my construction ;)
After a long, repetitive and tedious work, the battery deck guns are finally over.
Here is the summary of their construction.

The barrels supplied in the kit are in zamac. It is therefore necessary to paint them:

All parts of the gun carriages are laser cut:
Confederacy_178.jpg

I made a small template for assembly of carriages:

All rings, hooks, eyebolts are done manually. There are more than 400

To attach the guns on deck I added a nail that will be invisible later:

Thanks Shane.
For the Labor Day, I worked on the stove. Very busy by all these small pieces I did not really think about making intermediate photos. So here are the only ones I have.

At the beginning, I thought to take photos:

But after that, I remembered taking pictures only when the stove was finished.
Confederacy_200.jpg

The chimney is not glued for now.

As Chuck Passaro says, the stove is a fun little mini kit to build !

Best regards,

Great looking stove when finished it doesn't look like it's made from wood. What did you use to make the brick base?

Hi Tony,
I built the brick base as explained in the instruction manual. I used 11 basswood strips and filed small grooves through the strips to simulate the bricks. Then I glued the strips together by staggering the joints. So I got the pattern of the bricks. Then I painted the joints gray and colored the bricks with an heterogeneous mix of vermilion, copper and black acrylic paints, to obtain color variations. A matt varnish covers everything.
As can be seen in the photo below, the width of the strips is not regular, which is not a problem for simulating bricks but has been for the hull planking.

Hi all !
Almost two months since my last post!
The construction has nevertheless progressed a little during this period, although some parts are a bit long and fatidious.
The stairs are built:

As well as the capstan:

The second bulkhead is also built, this time with a door ajar:
Confederacy_212.jpg

Then began the long process of implementation of the knees and beams of the upper decks

The model will be presented with only half of the upper decks bordered in order to leave de battery deck visible:
