USS BONHOMME RICHARD - POF - Cross Section in Cherry - 1:48 - by carlosys [COMPLETED BUILD]

Excellent progress! Thumbsup I am impressed with the gun barrels color. How did you paint (if this is a paint\weathering)?
Thank you for your kind comments.

Since I don't know if you ask me about the barrels or the gun barrels, I explain both (My english is limited ).

The cannon have also been airbrushed.

IMG_0760.JPG

I first apply two coats of black acrylic. Vallejo Air 71057
When the second coat has not yet fully dried, I apply the silver color (Vallejo Air 71063) very gently and by far. Too little paint to simulate the metallic effect. As the black background is still a little wet, it looks as if it were the same painting.

When everything is dry, I apply with the airbrush matte varnish.

The barrels are made of cherry wood. Once finished, sanding and applying a cherry-colored water stain.
When dry, I apply a soft coat of varnish matte.

There is still a lot of work but I am already rethinking the base for the placement of the model.
I share the design and plans in case other modelers are interested

To be continued....

Carlos, with all the work on the ship section, do you have time to work from home on your paid job....

Hello Kkonrath.
I spend a lot of time on weekends especially now that I can't leave home.

In the day to day, my work takes me almost 12 hours a day :confused:Sick .

Hello
After a few days disconnected due to work issues, I will post the latest advances in the section.
I have finished the top deck and made the base for the section.
I have added various details for the decks.
Right now, the only thing missing is work in the "Mesa de guarnición y obenques"... (mainmast channel and shrouds) I'm not sure of the English translation.¿???

Hi everyone.
It seems that this model is fashionable in the forum so I will collaborate with my progress to help all the colleagues who are doing it too.
For my part, I will learn from your work.

The first steps do not have much mystery.
In my case, I am deck by deck in order to adjust each deck to the real progress of the model.

Hello everyone
Thanks a lot.
Since I finished the USS I am not working on any models. Work has me collapsed and I don't have much free time to go back to the shipyard.

I take this post to show you the current state of the USS.

That's it. Thanks for your comments.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a happy new year 2021.

Excellent work. I will be starting my kit after I'm allowed to open it on Christmas.

Carlosys, did you use a similar system to Uwe for your trenals? Drill holes & fill with putty?

It seems both you and Uwe are adding parts over wood that has been finished/sealed. Do you have any problems with adhesion? I've used rubbing varnish on some wood with nice effect, but have been worried about glue sticking.

Hello
Thanks for the feedback.
In my case, the drill holes are not filled with anything.
Once glued in place, the wood is stained cherry and after, to apply a matte varnish finish.
Best regards
