Finished my scratch build of the Flying Cloud in 1:96 scale (pic below).

New project is a scratch build of the USS Constitution in 1:76.8 scale. It's been a model I've always wanted to attempt, but was unsure of my capabilities to take on a task of that magnitude until now. I'm cautiously confident that I can do it.

I'm into my eighth year building Model Shipways' USS Constitution 1:76.8. I've scratched built the gun deck which added a few years onto the endeavor. I have a plethora of images and US Navy plans should you need them. Just make sure you choose an era you want to model to represent as she had changed over the years. The ship of 1812 does not look like the current ship in Boston Harbor. You might also want to look into Mustafa's build mtbediz (ModelShipWorld.com) mtbediz1 (ShipsofScale.com), He is scratch building his model based on the MS plans only, no kit. Both of us are more or less modeling our ships to the contemporary version. I look forward to your future posts.

The MS 1:76.8 plans are the ones I'm using for my scratch build. Just starting with the frames and keel pieces.

If you have any doubts on the plans, the curators at the Connie museum are super responsive in my experience. Kate Monea and Karl Herzog are super helpful. If you need a direct email for them please feel free to PM me.
