What a funny photo))) You have some very interesting rigging work ahead of you... I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm still very far from it.

Hi
I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and best wishes for the new year.
I'm currently taking a break from the shipyard, lots of other things to do at this time of year.
This is my progress since the last log. As yet I haven't fitted the hammock nets, mainly because they are very delicate and I'm very likely to damage them while rigging. I decided to make the lower stays and shrouds first then tie them up after the hammock nets are finished.

I used a simple jig to set the deadeyes.

Temporary riged the deadeyes to get the right tension on the shroud.

Shrouds and stays on the fore mast.

I'll post more tomorrow.

Wonderful build!

Wonderful work. Just my own 2 cents, but why not wait until the end to place the hammock nets? Like you said they are very delicate and likely to get damaged by other work.

This is the first time I fitted nets on a model so it's a matter of trial and error. I tried a few different methods (off the model) to make the hammock nets. I think it would have made the job much harder to do with the shrouds in place.

I understand. On the Constitution cross section the hammock nets were constructed with the bottom part made so it will just fit onto the ship as one unit. Perhaps you may want to consider using a very thin piece of wood as a base and mount it all as one section when everything is finished (which is my plan because of my amazing clumsy hands)
