Hello! It’s been a while since I last built a model, and this will be my first time taking on a large-scale project: a 1:350 scale ship, complete with photo etch and resin parts. I’ll be documenting the entire build here, both to share the process with others and to ask questions along the way.

First thing I did was inspect all the parts and wash the sprues.IMG_6783.jpeg

Assembled the hull and went to work sanding out the hull line. Additionally I filled (haven’t sanded) a pretty big chunk missing from the model. This kit came from Japan with me when I moved back to America and must have been damaged during that time.

Trying to decide if I want to start painting the hull or tackling something else.

While I was waiting for the putty to dry I started working on the super structure. Getting things dry fitted to make sure there’s no crazy seams or gaps and getting it ready for the wooden decks to go on so I can paint.

Made a pretty stupid judgment call trimming a tab and landed myself in the ER at about 10pm last night to get a couple stitches…I’ll spare yall the pictures.

I primed the lower super structure components and the hull seam. As well as sanded out the putty repair.

I decided I want to mount this on a display so I’m going to hold off on installing the deck until the brass stands come in. I’ll probably tackle getting the anti fouling red on in the meantime since I only need one hand to work the airbrush…

Good luck with the build. I've had my eye on that particular kit so will be keen to follow your build log.
Cheers,

Got the boot top painted on. Small spot on the hull got pulled by the tape so I had to touch that up. Probably tomorrow once the paint has hardened up I’ll get the nuts for the display stand in so I can close it up and get the deck installed.
