I am currently working on plastic ships from WW2 and newer in 1/350. There appears to be two types of vertical ladders on these ships.
Some consist off individual rungs and others are made in sections. The individual rung ladders obviously must be supported for their whole
length while the others can span an open area.
My question is, are there particular standards or conditions which would dictate which type of ladder is used. I've seen both on various turrets.
When model building the section ladder is obviously easier to install. I haven't been able to do an acceptable job with individual rungs.
Thanks in advance, Harley

Unfortunately Harley I do not think there is a general rule as such and it is very specific to individual vessels and different details of those vessels. The IJN had a passion for individual rungs but then would use proper ladders in random locations that did not follow any particular reasoning.

Kind Regards

Nigel
