Went to see the winter servicing of the Kalmar Nyckel, a Swedish 4-cannon Pinnace docked in Wilmington Delaware. What a beautiful (and compact) sailing vessel! It served as flagship to Peter Minuit and the first Swedish settlers in America in the 1630's. Toured the foc'sle, quarterdeck, captains quarters, and galley at the Copeland Maritime Museum, an out-of-the-way but history rich maritime museum. Good collection of model ships and local maritime history. Can't wait to come back this Spring to go out on a 2.5 hour sailing cruise out in Delaware Bay!
