Hi guys and girls
I'm building the occre diana and I'm in 14 months as you can see in the photo where im up to .now on the plans it says to do all the ratlines first but I'm thinking it might be better to put on all my sails between the masts first .staysails etc
Any views would be nice
All my main sails are ready to go and are pre rigged

IMHO

Do the fixed first, starting with all the lower shrouds, then middles, then upper. This will hold your masts in place firmly and stop any movement Port/Starboard and fore / aft. Next the Fore/Aft stays working Bow Sprit to Fore to Main to Mizzen. This will lock in masts and will stop any line sag. Complete the rest of the stays. Pin yards to check location. Remove & sew sails to yards( after setting all sail based rigging ,then re-pin and do running rigging. The inter mast sails come last. Follow the rigging plan order as suggested. The rigging places a lot of strain on the masts, and fixed rigging holds it all in place. Doing the sails before the other is fraught with risk.

I know ratting is mind numbing, but there is a reason to the order. Its like building a house, you can't put the roof on without the walls.

standing rigging first, then add the yards (prepared), then the running rig and then finally the shrouds and ratlines- as they will difficult to fasten the running rig.

Personally, I build up the Masts and Yards outside on a wooden block. I made the wooden Block after the drawing, then drill a hole- with the mast diameter, and so deep as in the Model. now I can work on both the model and the mast plus separately. I add as much to the mast here: Yards, all blocks -single or doubles-both to the mast, crosstrees and yards. you can this way start to do some of the running rigs too. when ready transferred it to the right position on the ship.

My sequence is: Shrouds, then Stays, than Ratlines for the lower masts, then the same for the middle, than the same for the upper (if any). Then tightening all of these and then comes the running rigging.
