Dear friends,
In the meantime we have already some Book Reviews in this area.
Nevertheless there are still hundreds, thousands of books available which could be for interest of some of you.

If you are thinking about buying a special book, but you do not have enough information for this decision,
or you are interested in the content of a publication,
I suggest that you mention this book with title and author here in this topic with a short post.
Maybe somebody from the staff, but also other members of SOS, have this book and could give helpful information or make a Book Review.

So let us start a wishlist for Book reviews.....

The proposal is still and for the future vaild.......

In Rochefort D.Berti from ancre and also Gerard Delacroix were present, showing and selling their publications.

Both were very pleased of our book and planset reviews here on SOS, so I got several of their new and older publications in order to make new reviews for our members

These are the new copies I brought from the visit in Rochefort , so I will make in the future the different reviews - stay tuned

I got my copy of the new Saint-Philippe 90-guns monographie written by Jean-Claude Lemineur and the complete 1:48 set of the La Venus by Jean Boudriot and Hubert Berti from Didier Berti (ancre) yesterday. This set includes also the new additional drawing set prepared by Franco Fissore
Both monographies are in english language.

In addition I got the Art of Shipmodeling by Bernard Frölich in english. The german version, which I have already, was not the best translation at the time of the release, so I agreed with Didier Berti during my stay in Rochefort to help him with an improvement of the german translation for a future re-publication.

So stay tuned...... i will make a first content information in some days in special reviews......

Hello friends. I am not sure when Alert kit will be available for sale, but I am getting ready for it, and start researching on this matter. Today I received my book by Peter Goodwin from the Anatomy Of the Ship series: The Naval Cutter Alert 1777 published by Conway Maritime Press.

IMG_0543.jpeg

Great book with a lot of details drawings. The cover said: complete with a 1/48 scale fold-out plan. however, I didn't find one. Sure enough, I immediately contact the seller, but they reply that they not aware and sell many copies without the fold-out plan. Here is my question, in case some of you already have this book: did yours come with a plan or I am missing something?

Thanks for your help in advance...

The book should have the plans

Hallo Jim and all,
the fold out plan is the inside of the cover, if your copy has one - I made a fast photo of it

I am planning to make a detailed Book Review of this Anatomy book in the next couple of days, so you all get informed about the content of this book.
Especially very interesting for the construction of the Trident kit

Thanks, Uwe and all. Unfortunately, the copy I purchased doesn't have one. :( I will have to contact the seller. Oh well...
If you do not get it via the seller, it will be not the biggest problem - it is the exact 1:48 copy of the plan, which is in reduced form of 1:64 on page 48 and 49 of the book.
And this is not a draught made by Peter Goodwin, it is copy of the contemporary drawing of the Rattlesnake 1777, the sister ship of the Alert.

IN the NMM are three drawings of Rattlesnake and Alert online available.

lines & profile, possibly as fitted.

and for the disposition of the frames, Goodwin used the drawings of the cutter Speedy 1828

j0621.jpg
j0622.jpg
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the framing profile (disposition) for Speedy (1828), a 6-gun Cutter Tender. Signed Henry Peake [Surveyor of the Navy, 1806-1822], Jospeh Tucker [Surveyor of the Navy, 1813-1831], Robert Seppings [Surveyor of the Navy, 1813-1832]. Plan also has table of scantling details

j0619.jpg
Scale: 1:24. Plan showing sections at Station 14, Midship, and Station M for Revenue Cutters to be built at Pater [Pembroke Dockyard]. These could relate to both the Revenue Cutters and Admiralty Cutters: possibly Racer (1818); Sprightly (1818) both Revenue Cutters, and also possibly for Speedy (1828) and Snipe (1828) both 6-gun Cutter Tenders, all built at Pembroke Dockyard. Initialled by Robert Seppings [Surveyor of the Navy, 1813-1832]

UWE, is this book I should have when I build (Rattlesnake 1777)? The Naval Cutter Alert 1777 or is there a separate book for Rattlesnake?.
