Wooden Shipbuilding by Charles Desmond, 236 pages

From my research of the subject, Desmond and Estep and Davis and perhaps one or two books that purport to describe the building of wooden ships that were written and published in years leading up to and thru WWI are to be viewed with strict limitations. The methods and techniques described are totally divorced from the methods and techniques from the traditional era of wooden shipbuilding.
The way wooden shipbuilding is described in the 1900-1918 times period has more to do with a translation of steel building methods to wood.
Davis was from this era and wrote what he knew in his description of how to do a "built-up" (POF) model hull. For hulls built after 1900 the description is valid. From 1860 going back to the beginnings these books are misleading at best.
