Hi from Australia. I have just purchased a 1:200 scale plastic warship. I am looking for advice on a clamp/vice that will hold the hull whilst painting & building. Any advice would be appreciated the Hull is approx 1.2 mt long so I would imagine supports at both ends would be needed. TIA

Regards
Adrian

For that length, istead of a vise, consider a cradle....

if you make your cradle for the ship out of "pool noodles" (I don't know what you call them there:) ) that are cut in half lengthwise, you can tilt the model as you need.

Cut 2 long ones for the length of the ship and 2 short ones to attach the long ones too. The short ones go under the long ones. Let me know if I didn't explain it well enough and I'll try to explain better or try to send a pic (All my ship building stuff is packed for my move).

I use an upturned "stable table", typically used for eating in front of the TV

My ship is just over a metre long and sits on this pad all the time. I can tilt it or upturn it when I need to and often lay it on a lazy susan as well if working on both side and need to spin it around.

Model Railroad shops sell soft foam cradles that are about 12" long, 4" wide and 2" tall with deep V shape to allow engine or cars to be rested in them for work on sides or bottoms. Check Micro Mark or other hobby supply shops.
