Been taking a hiatus. Maindeck painted. Gun carriages done. Still have touchups to do. Will weather with oils. Then lightly scrape to bring some black in the wood grain.

This is technically my first ship.

This is what I did before converting. Armor.

Recently learned the bulwarks were green not black or white. The gun doors will be repainted white or off white.

I am not weathering just from the box.

I will use pastels to color the boat area.

Changed to oils. Burnt umber on deck. Burnt sienna on structures.

I also have worked mostly in armor over the last few decades. What I have recently learned as I have spent more time on ships is that techniques that work in 1/35th scale don’t necessarily port effectively to smaller scales. Subtlety will be the name of the game as you forge ahead on your Connie. Did you finish the 113?
