ZHL Black Pearl Golden 2021 - 1:64 - JeffT [COMPLETED BUILD]

Coasting over the waves at night.

I completed my build of the Black Pearl by getting it mounted and finalizing the wiring of the light switch. The attached picture is from above the ship with the room lights out and the ship lights on. I enhanced the remaining window light that was leaking onto the rear part of the deck because it has the look of moon light shining through a opening in the clouds.

Early next week is supposed to be somewhat better weather so I will try to get the ship outside to take some final pictures.

Final pictures from my Black Pearl build. While I see a few things that I wish I had done differently or better, I am happy with the way the project came out.

Thanks to everyone who has commented, liked and/or helped the build in some way in the past year. Your input has been greatly appreciated.

We had a nice day in Central NY State today, so I was able to get outside for some reasonably well lit photos. I have been waiting a week or so to do so, but between cold, snow, rain and wind, today was my first chance since mounting the ship to the base. Even so, there was enough wind gusts today that the ship almost heeled over in a gust. Obviously I had too much sail set for the conditions. Poor seamanship, I guess.

So on to the pictures:

Congratulations on your excellent Black Pearl, are you planning another build?
Thanks, Tony.

I have 2 ongoing builds. I just started the OcCre Endurance kit in the last couple of days and will be starting a build log on it soon. I have another kit that I have been working on intermittently for a few months. I have been documenting it with photos and am considering whether to start a log on that one as well.

Congratulation for finishing her - very well done !!!

Vic, the site must not think we are interested in each other's work anymore. I just realized that I have not been getting any alerts on your Solie build., I will need to go back into your log and catch up.

I like the way you did the clews, Tony. Where did you get the information?

If the comment was meant for me (as opposed to Tony), I will answer by saying I think I just followed the instructions rigging design. I did vary the rigging instructions by putting some small brass cleats on the masts, but they were part of the yard handling rigging and not part of the sail handli8ng rigging.
