First of all thanks for allowing me to join.

I am nowadays a retiree but began modelling in the 1950ies with plastic models (Revell, Monogram etc). Then followed a longish pause until the mid 1970ies when I decided to take up the hobby again and switch to wooden shipmodels. I had a plan to start importing Model Shipways and Steingraeber models to Finland and ordered a bunch of them as a first consignment. Then things developed quickly - first wife and marriage, then three children over 8 years and a business career (in shipowning as you might have guessed already) to take care of. End result, the models were left on the shelf for quite a number of years and I have during the last few years only completed Marie Jeanne by Billing Boats, schooner yacht America by Model Shipways and paddle steamer s.s. Sirius by Steingraeber. I am now working on trawler Hildina by Model Shipways. I am a real slow builder because I spend a lot of time at my summer cottage in the world’s most beautiful archipelago during the spring and summer months and a lot of time doing cross country skiing in Lapland which leaves me with limited building time. However, I do not have any ambitions to ramp up production any time soon and I visit my hobby-room only whenever I have a moment to spare.
As a consequence of my failed plans to start importing Model Shipways and Steingraeber models I have a few vintage virgin boxes from 1976 safely tucked away in a corner and should anybody be interested to buy Steingraeber Agilis or Satanitas or Atropos I can sell them at a reasonable price. The MS models that I still have left I might keep as a fallback in case I would for some reason pick up building speed.

Welcome onboard Lasse, it is always very nice to meet other Finnish ship model builders here. Where are you situated? It would be nice to meet face to face, because it seems that we have much in common (ship models, cross coutry skiing in Lapland, etc).
What is the name of the paddle wheeler at the first picture? I am interested because I am being building (very very slowly) a model of the first Finnish steamboat Ilmarinen, which was a side wheeler too.

I am located in Helsinki and would be interesting to meet and ”discuss matters of mutual interest”. I am back in Finland on 23rd Nov so if you live somewhere close by please get in touch with me on lasse.rikala@gmail.com. The name of the paddlesteamer is s.s. Sirius.

Hallo Lasse,
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake

Here's another Lasse, from Finland as well. I have been looking for the Bluenose kit from Model Shipways, but cannot find a supplier in Finland. Do you happen to have one stowed away?

Kind regards Lars gardberg
Hello, sorry I don’t have MS’s Bluenose available for you. What I can develop for sale is Agilis or Satanitas by Steingraeber. Should you be interested in those models, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Lasse

Thanks for your prompt reply. I can't find pictures of Agilis or Satanitas, so have no idea what these are. I'm mainly interested in quite modern ships of wooden construction. Currently finishing a J-class Endeavour kit from Amati.
