Hello everyone,

As I said in my introduction, I recently bought a "Norske Løve" model for 25€, I do not know if it was built from a kit or bought it already assembled.
The model is in really bad state, as you will see on the pictures.

The rigging is totally to rebuilt, the mizzen is broken, the main mast is moving a bit, the foremast Is okay I think, and the bow sprit is also moving, maybe just came off. I removed the sails wich are really dirty, I tried to handwash it, but with no results, so I tryed the washing machine... Bad idea, the sewing is gone. I will probably buy new ones.

The Hull is correct, it maybe need a fresh paint, and unfortunately, the figurehaed is broken and I just have the half broken part. At the stern, on the quarter galleries, all the glit are missing. For the guns, I don't remember how many left, but just a little bit. A majority of the "Gun's doors" (I don't know the english word for that) is missing too. The two wooden anchors, are broken. I was Thinking to replace it by metal anchors. And the rudder is missing.
I think I just resume the all state of the ship, If I forget something I will let you know.

So, I will ask you, to help me, maybe where I would start, and if anyone of you have the rigging plan to help me rebuilt it. I hesitate to remove all the ropes because I can't found any plans on the internet (maybe I don't have the good keywords). Also, I hope you will understand my English wich is may be not so good, especially for marine terms.

Could be a Billings kit,

Could be a Billings kit,
What does "billings" mean?

G'day Salty Bear, it is definitely the Billings of the Norske Love, looks like it has been through a few battles, enjoy repairing her, she is a beautiful ship,
best regards John,

You might be lucky, Billings used to sell a fittings and Decoration set separate to the hull and masts,
and this will be necessary - it is visible, that several small parts are missing and lost like guns, gun-port lids etc.
To your question:
Maybe it is the best, that you disassemble partly the rigging, maybe first on one side, so you can remove the masts and you have a free view and workspace on the deck. I guess here you have also some repair works to do - also you will have to clean the deck from dust and other dirt....

This may be of interest too

A good find - here you can make a low counter-offer - I guess the seller will also sell for a much cheaper price (in moment it is appr. 40% of the price of a new complete kit, so in moment much too expensive

G'day Salty bear, after reading your posts I thought that I would have a look through my box of spare parts that I have collected over the years and guess what I found, see pics below,

I believe these are the decorations for the stern of the Norske Love the fittings number on them is F536,
if you would like them PM me your name and address and I will post them to you, I do not want any
money for them, they are yours if you want them,

Hello SaltyBear, you and I are in the same situation with our ships. I'm also building the Norske Love. Except that I created the situation in which mine is. So I will closely follow your progress.
Bonne chance.

Hello Uwe,
Thank you for posting links to the manuals and plans, I am restoring a Norske Love which I tried to build in 1973 at age 16. Not knowing anything about model ship building and no decent tools, it turned out a mess to say the least.
My mother wanted to throw it away after I married and left home, but fortunately I collected it and kept it in storage all these years.
A model of this ship is or was (1982) in a museum in Denmark which my wife and I visited while on honeymoon there. So the ship has some sentimental value.
The plans and instructions were lost a long time ago and finding them here has given me the enthusiasm to build it again.

Best regards, Erlo

Very nice! I am also building the Norske Love and I have a build log in progress. It’s a big ship and a lot of work! Congratulations on your accomplishment! ;)
