Torborg - Billing Boats 1:20

Well, she is pretty much ready. i can take a couple more photos tomorrow after i get home from work. she came out pretty good, i think, altough it needs to be said billings' s plywood material is pretty crappy. the priginal ropework was horrible material, so i scrounged my box of tangled up strings and ropes for better ones. i also added some minor details that weren't in tge kit itself.

She came out nice, I like it!

all parts except the rudder assembled. none of the ribs fit properly, the angles of the ribs were miles off the mark. next updates will come in about a week when i get back home to finland and get the boat painted.

This build sounds like a true test of your patience and overcoming every hurdle that is put up in front of you. As in the Kalevalah (bad spelling) with the hunter, keep skiing on with the short pushing ski and glide while you can. Rich (PT-2)

I see some serious twist in some of those planks. Without going back to see your approach. . . did you give them some moisture and plank bender to remove some of the stress? Well done in any event with those wide planks. RIch

i steamed them a little and then i set them to their place to dry out for a while before gluing them in

it is true that Norway tends to be a windy place. nonetheless, i love Norway very much. Sweden ain't bad either, especially höga kusten is very beautiful area. I tend to visit Norway 2-3 times every year. it feels like home. that's why i am building these Norwegian ships too. they bring a part of that country's history and culture to my home :)

Yes, stones are for ballast. I have thought of building Norske Løve, but not yet though. she is a very pretty ship.
