Yacht models

As a general rule and for various reasons, I don't like to build yachts. However, if the money is right... These were scratch-built for the owners and are both 1/24 scale.
Both of those are very nicely detailed and executed sloops. Were they POF from the scantlings of the class? Rich

Lovely craftsmanship! Can I ask what material was used to shape the hull? And I'm guessing everything we're seeing is scratch built? I joined here just a couple of weeks ago also and was thinking I'm in the wrong forum as I scratch build only modern boats myself. Strictly a hobby for me.

Bet the owners were pleased to see their pride and joy replicated so well.

Thanks. They are both scratch-built from normal modeling materials with a few commercial fittings. The hulls are carved from laminated basswood and mostly painted with Krylon rattle cans! I'm not overly fond of gloss paint, as I normally build naval vessels and usually spray flat paint with an airbrush. I haven't built anything for myself for decades, as I am the kit developer for a US wooden ship model kit manufacturer.

I am curious what length these were for your 24th scale work. My guess is under 40 ft but possibly close to that. Looks like good berthing for short overnight trips.
It's been years, but I think you are correct about the actual hull length.
