I came across this in a vintage woodworking tool shop in Melbourne, Australia. The owner knew I was looking for some boxwood and said he had this broken old plane which he believes is made of boxwood. It is very heavy and the grain does look very dense. What do you think? Does it look like boxwood? 8351E627-879A-45B4-BAE2-97A09C26C155.jpegD20EB7A2-2CBC-4222-8443-5F1104B7CF7F.jpeg

I don’t think so. To me it’s too yellow for Jarrah. I’ve got plenty of Jarrah in stock, and although as heavy and close grained it feels softer, creamier and as I say more yellow.
