Does anyone know if the Proxxon FF230 mill uses standardized collets? The Proxxon manual and website are no help. I do see that the FF250 uses an ER16 and the FF500 uses ER20 collets. I would like to get other sized collets but don’t relish spending ~130.00 USD if the collets are standard ERxx …

I’ll answer my own question…
This is the reply I got from Proxxon:

Hello Olivier,

The Proxxon FF 230 mill does not use standardized ER collets.

6, 8 & 10 mm collets are included with the tool.

2.4, 3.0, 3.2, 4.0 & 5.0 collets can be purchase as set # 24144.

We have available a set with imperial size collets ¼” & 3/8” that can be purchased as spare parts # S34104-1/4-3/8

Price for the set $ 66.60 plus shipping and sales taxes (if applicable).

Thank you.

Kind regards.

This is general Proxxon business policy to use non standard tools and accessories so they can sell additional parts to make some more money.
Yes and no… the other mini mills and lathes (except HF-70) from Proxxon use standard collets. However, it was disappointing to learn the FF 230 did not use standard collets. Had I known I may have gotten a Sherline or something.
