Pilot and small plane rescued from the North Sea - by a fishing trawler

A pilot has to ditch his small aircraft on the North Sea off Büsum.
But a fishing cutter is immediately there and saves the man and the machine.

A cutter pulled a small aircraft that landed in the North Sea out of the water and brought it safely to land.
The plane touched down at sea off Büsum on Sunday due to engine failure.

According to police, the pilot was uninjured.
The crew of a fishing trawler rescued the man, said a spokesman for the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People.
Fishermen were faster. The cutter then picked up the double-decker aircraft and brought it to Büsum.

The sea rescue ship “Theodor Storm” rushed to the scene of the accident, but the fishermen were faster, said the sea rescue spokesman.
The pilot probably deliberately chose the location of his ditching next to the cutter.
