overview Swan class drawings for download

I may be mistaken, but the plans are no longer available for free. It seems they have to be bought now through their publisher "seawatchbooks".
Do you still have those free digital plans? I would be interested in them.

I believe the drawings you are referring to are copyrighted by David Antscherl. After Seawatch stopped printing paper copies of the plans David Antscherl and Greg Herbert, who owned the Admiralty website, made them available for $50. Unfortunately they recently took the site down. There were over 20 ships in the Swan class, plans for many of which, including Swan (1766), Fly (1776) and Atalanta (1775) can be found on the RMG Collections website in low resolution for free, and on the Wiki Commons site, some of which are in high resolution, also free. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Ship_plans_of_the_Royal_Museums_Greenwich. If you decide to go ahead with the model, I strongly suggest you invest in Volumes I, II and IV of The Fully Framed Model which goes into every detail of building a Swan class vessel. There is also an excellent booklet from Antscherl on sail making. The books and booklet were available from Seawatch Books but sadly the first two volumes are sold out. Used copies can be found at Abe Books and on Amazon but they are at least double the price when they were new and in stock.

Ciao Allan,
my interest in these drawings is to understand how to draw a plan and not to build the ship.
All this can be traced back to the fact that I am completely redesigning the 1:43 scale project of the Charkes W. Morgan ship.
I learned many things on the forum, but the information added is always welcome.
Ciao, Eugenio
(long live Google translate)

PS:
Excellent report on the drawing site.... shame that there is no whaler. neither Essex nor Charles W. Morgan.
However, I'll note it down as a source of drawings

Exactly ,the Swan Class ships are not owned by Greg and David, only their own interpretation and drawings of the ship, anyone else can do the same draw up a set of plans and drawings based on NMM plans ,and still will be a Swan class ship

Back in 2021 they where free to download because they stopped. Later seawatch bought the rights, now you have to pay for them. Guys I put this 3 years ago online. Your to late.
I don't know if I did download them, have to look but if, I put them here online.

i found the original CDs these are not bootleg copies they are the original so if you can sell a printed hard copy you should be able to sell the CD set i would think.

however the CD with the drawings will not read but the practicum will. There are people out there who might be able to read the drawing CD

Just had a note that the site that went down was sending pirated copies of the drawings and violating copyrights. Note the Homestead part of the site name which was not the legitimate site. Regarding Swan, plans and copies of plans that came from that site are illegal in the 181 countries that are part of the current Berne convention, including the US, Canada and the countries in the EU.

No, you're wrong, they where legal. The link came from MSW. From Greg and David themselves.

I didn't download the plans in that time, no need. That was the reason why I share the link here. But it was just pic up 3 years later. And people telling me I'm sharing illegal content here!

I just spoke again with someone in the know and they confirmed what you have found out, that these were OK. They had been charging $50 but then decided to end the site and allow the copies to go out. My apologies, I was given bad information.

No problem.

I found in my backup data 87Mb of files from that site. Didn't look what it is, I just see drawings and stuff. If someone is interested just pm me your email and I send them to you with wetransfer. There is also a document that says that these documents are free to download, so legal. I can post them here to, but Zoly need to say if it is allowed.

Hi, mon ami. Despite some Swan class drawings are free to download, let's not publically post them. If someone is interested you could PM or email.
