What do you wear ?

I have just been doing my washing ... yes I am a sad single guy and I noticed that most of my everyday clothes either have a small drop of paint or a hard spot of glue on them !
It made me wonder
Am I a messy modeller ?
Do others have the same problem ?
Do you wear specific clothes ?
Or are you a natural modeller HeHe
I use my old lab coat in order to stay clean(ish) with the wife standing over me with her vacuum cleaner so any lil bits I lose vanish into eternity which is longer than forever. Carpet monster has no chance competing with my better half.

I always wear a shop coat while working in the shop. It is also ver handy for catching glue ,paint and and even cleaning out my files on. I once spilled a fair amount of CA on my pants which glued them very well to me. Took several weeks to heal that wound. Since that day I have been much more aware of shop safety.

An Apron?
I have the same problem with paint and glue spots. This post set me thinking that an apron with lots of chest pockets robust enough to accommodate safely the tools currently in use would be useful. A google search for work aprons threw up some likely candidates. If an apron lies across the knees when seated it might catch some of the deadeyes and blocks with lemming tendencies. I shall pursue this option.
I tried an apron using the old jewellers trick of clipping the hem to my work desk, BUT, one forgets to unclip it when 'scooting' on a 'wheelie' chair - OOPS!

I always start vacuuming with an empty 'tank' in my work area, then empty on a tray for a search through, mainly cat hair & fine grit, before completing the chore. Very often the 'search' turns up long-lost items,

I don’t seem to have a problem with stains etc on my clothes, but I do have a problem with getting Superglue, CA on my fingers, particularly on my thumbs. The glue dries and then I can’t resist trying to pick the dried glue off, and all I do is end up with peeling off the skin, leaving it sore and tender!

Get yourself some CA de-bonder!!!!!!!!!!!! I always keep it on my desk.

I don't know about anyone else but the de-bonder chemicals cause a painful, long-lasting irritation to my skin. Worse than the glue crust. Try a little salt and warm water or olive oil mixture rubbed between the fingers. Works-sort of.

Vaseline with grit of your choice. Works moderately well, non-toxic. Any solvent rubbed into your skin (or inhaled) gets absorbed with predictably ill effects.RedfaceThumbsdown
