Greetings everyone,

I am new to the world of shipbuilding. While I have some experience in woodworking, it's still quite limited. My inspiration came from seeing my brother-in-law's finished models, which motivated me to start this journey. I'm currently beginning with an 18th-century longboat. Wish me luck!

also from my side a warm welcome here on board of our forum - and off course also a welcome to the ship modelling society
The longboat is a very good kit for the beginning
It would be helpful for you to start a building log, where you show and describe your work,
and if there are any questions or problems we are able to help and assist.

Welcome to the fray. While many of us have been in this hobby for decades, most, if not all, of us have days where we feel we just got started. It is a never ending learning process, but a fun (and sometimes frustrating) hobby. If you want to stay with one or two more beginner projects, the three-boat series designed by author and master builder David Antscherl available at Model Expo is a great choice. No matter kit or scratch, you have thousands of mentors here to share their experience, knowledge, and guidance, IF YOU ASK. :)

Greetings,

Thank you for the great advice. I will start a log on this build. I’m excited to collaborate with everybody.

From your profile photo, your a MSgt from USAF, and welcome from another retired MSgt of the USAF, living in OK, near Tinker AFB if you know where that is.

Enjoy the forum and keep posting a build log on the long boat.

Greetings Kurt,

Yes, I am familiar with Tinker. I was stationed at Sheppard AFB in 2016, we would travel to Oklahoma City often. Great to meet another SNCO! I will be sure to start a log.
