Looks like I’ll be out of commission for a while since I need a new shoulder joint. My existing rotator cuff and glenoid surface is shot and arthritic as well as multiple tears in the labrum, deltoid and bicep. So my surgeon recommended a “reverse shoulder arthroplasty” Which is going to screw up my golf game this summer! Oh well, the alternative is no golf ever again.

Surgery is this coming week so wish me luck!

Have confidence in today’s surgery and for sure you get your shoulder functions back. Wish you a quick recovery.
Regards, Peter

Wishing you all the best for your surgery, and a quick recovery,
Best regards John,

one thing we have to be thankful for... joint replacements. once upon a time not so long ago in my lifetime, your hip went; it meant wheelchair for the rest of your life. that shoulder, the knees, backs n all the reconstructive technology has helped us old farts rust more comfortably.

but getting old still sux!

i feel like an old ferrari with its wheels flopping around, fenders rotted out, and the gosh darn engine backfires like crazy. ROTF

speedy recovery!

As Bette Davis said, getting old is not for sissies. We live in a retirement community about a mile from an Arthrex factory that makes body parts. I wish they would open a company store with good discounts or at least have holiday sales so we can stock up for the future. :)
Good luck!!!

For this type pf injury a reverse total shoulder makes sense. It is also easier technically to do and has better results. The rehab is probably just as important as the surgery, so make sure you do what the physical therapists recommend. The anesthetic should include a block for pain relief after the surgery.

P.S. Getting old may suck, but it is probably better than the alternative. Although no one has ever complained.

Had my left shoulder replaced 3 years ago. Maybe not as good as new, but serviceable none the less, as at 80, I don’t plan on doing pull-ups anymore. Had my right hip replaced a month ago. Running out of joints to replace! Go with the flow and don’t rush the recovery and you will soon be doing everything you want to do!
