Congratulations. It looks wonderful!
Thank you Cap'n Jack!I am looking forward to your next project![]()
You know, I should have taken photos along the way, but sometimes I'm not sure how things are going to turn out so I'm just grinding on the project rather than thinking about documenting it...The lantern is amazing ! Don't sell your accomplishment short! I'm sure you could do an entire thread just on the process of its construction !
Thanks, Jan. I'm not entirely certain what my next project is going to be. I haven't built a French ship though...Wow, what a great finish, I enjoyed follwing your build. What is next??
Jan
Thanks, Dean. You are good at finishing cars and planes, however.Congratulations Paul! Beautiful! I’m trying to remember what it’s like to finish a ship…![]()
Thank you, Smithy. When? Hmm. Probably not until late spring/early summer. I need to on-board a metal lathe and then a CNC machine I was gifted.Nice one, Doc. Not bad, not bad at all.
When is next?
True! They only take weeks and months, not years! I have to stayed focused…wish me luck! Thanks, Dean. You are good at finishing cars and planes, however.
Keenly observed, Smithy. I found myself dragging my feet as the end was drawing near. I don't enjoy the destination nearly as much as the journey. How are you feeling now this large project and massive thread are drawing to a close?
There's a sadness waiting for sailors at the end of a long voyage no matter how pleased they might also be to return home. Liam Clancy and Tommy Makem used to sing an old song about that...
Leave her Johnny, leave her.
Thanks, Maarten. I'll probably come back under a new avatar and nickname - that will take the pressure offWhat a magnificent result Paul.
Do you already feel the pressure for the next build? You definately raised the bar with this one.
Chapeau.
Thank you very much, my friend. I can't work at your pace, but the journey continues...What an accomplishment Paul! "My life my love and my lady, is the sea...." as it were, congratulations my friend.
Thanks, Herman. I find myself just as inspired by your work. I'm looking forward to a nice macro-project like a display base too!Congratulations Paul on finishing this wonderful model. The lantern being the glorious icing on the cake.
Your work is an example and inspiration to many of us.
There aren't many people who can make an acceptable wood carving on their first try. In my opinion, you certainly did. Practice makes perfect.
Looking forward to your display base.
Thanks, Wojitas. You might be right, but I hope notCongratulations Paul. It was a pleasure watching master at work. Time flies so fast. Take a break you definitely earned it. I guess we will see you soon with some new magnificent ship. Watch out for 3d printers they tend to follow cnc and laser machines, if you're not carefull. One day you have a cnc and other 3d printer comes and sais pick me, pick me. Better be prepared when that day comes![]()
I couldn't agree more! She's brilliant in every respect! I know what a masterpiece looks like, Thanks for treating us to the creation of one (IMHO). I cheerfully anticipate your next build log. (No pressure.)The lantern is amazing ! Don't sell your accomplishment short! I'm sure you could do an entire thread just on the process of its construction !
