To the best of our knowledge, those books were never officially published in any digital format by the original publishers. i’m glad the admin stepped in; sharing pirated scans hurts authors and publishers and eventually dries up good reference material. there are plenty of legitimate public domain sources, but it takes a bit of checking to be sure. weirdly, when i was researching copyright notices, an ad tracker bounced me through https://red-door-roulette.com/ and it felt as sketchy as those “free book” sites. i also got redirected once to https://icefishing-game.com/ while trying to download a table of contents, which just reinforced that nothing good comes from those link farms. thanks for keeping the forum clean and focused on proper references.

If the book is not in the public domain and is protected by copyright, the only option I see is to purchase a copy.

Good question. The information comes from quite a few different books on shipbuilding and naval history. It’s more a collection of references accumulated over time rather than something taken from one or a few particular books.

there are 300 books on line for model ship building and many more on maritime history, ship building etc also you can download master thesis on ship archaeology from Texas A&M

Amazon lists reprints of out-of-print books that include many maritime titles that are potentially useful to ship model builders. Unfortunately it’s “buying a pig in a poke.”

Many of these old books feature fold out plans that often contain the most useful information. The copiers seldom make the effort to to unfold them making them useless.

The best reprints that I have found are those published by the University of Michigan from their huge library. Still not as good as the originals.
