Viking Boat - Revel - Scale 1/50

Congratulations on an excellent job of enhancing this model. ThumbsupThumbsup
Only question I have is why you simply didn't use a real stone for the anchor?
I'm glad you like the model.
Initially, I also thought about using real stone, but it has to be shaped appropriately to fit the scale. I don't think the texture of the stone itself will be scale-worthy. That's why I settled on pine bark.

The only truly naff parts which come with the kit are the 'decorations' at bow and stern.
I see you haven't included them so far.
I'm curiously waiting to see if you will be replacing them with more appropriate features. if at all?
They will be used, I just haven't installed them yet, as well as the shields. There will be some finishing touches on them as well.

Hey Moarein,

Your Viking ship looks excellent. Great work and so beautifully built. Quick question: where did you learn about the chests?
I just love the idea. Great
You also did a great job on the display case. Did you glue the perspex with UV glue?

Best regards

Thanks Gunter!

I made the first Viking ship with benches, looking at photos of modern reproductions.
I decided to make this one with chests - I came across this option somewhere and decided that it was more logical, from the point of view that this is a warship and there should be room for the crew to move freely.

The display case is not made of plexiglass - it is glass - 3mm thick.
I glued it with ordinary sanitary silicone.
The countertop and the moldings of the display case are made of birch. They are finished with wax paste.

Hey Moarein,

What a great model, looks fantastic! Now that I see more of it I'm pretty certain it's NOT the same model I built in the 70s.
