I think you did a wonderful job on that kit by adding a few extra details, I'm currently working on the same kit.

Hey Kie,

very nice and clean work. Thumbsup

I would be delighted if you could take a photo of the deck?
How did you make the sails? Were they already in that shape?
You looked at a diagram for the takellage, where did you get the diagram from?

Best regards

Günther

Hi Günther,

Thank you very much. I can take a photo of the deck when I'm home from work. The sails are a preformed sheet of plastic, just have to be painted and cut out then sewn to the yards.
As for the diagram, I simply googled 'Sovereign of the seas rigging diagram'

Here is a link to one I found helpful.

Hey Kie,

thanks for the reply. Really very nice work and I'm looking forward to the deck photos. How long did you work on the model?

Best regards

Hi Günther this model took roughly 2 months, I'm not sure how many hours though.

Kie,

Thank you for posting pictures of your completed Sovereign of the Seas. Being able to look more closely at your work was my incentive to join "Ships of Scale." I am currently working on the same kit, a picture of which I included in my introductory post to the "Welcome" forum (https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/new-member-to-ships-of-scale.17194/). I truly appreciate the detail you achieved. I will be referencing your pictures often as I move forward. Another resource that I just received today is the incomparable book by John McKay, Sovereign of the Seas 1637, published in 2020 by Seaforth Publishing, South Yorkshire, Great Britian.

With time, patience, printed resources, and your example I am hoping to achieve a similar result when completed. Thanks again.

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

Thank you very much. Your USS Edson looks very neat and tidy. If your Royal Sovereign ends up anything like this it will be an amazing looking model, which it's already looking to be.
