Hi Captain,
In Australia there is no supplier of nearly any wood needed for modelling. Up to a few years ago I used to order from dLumberyard (USA), they are good, but shipping costs are crazy now.

Just checked out the timber strips for sale at modellers central. Their offerings do not excite me.

I own a Joinery in East Maitland NSW so have the luxury of machining my own.
We have a 930mm wide belt sander so dimensional timber is no problem.
Species we stock suitable for modelling include NSW Coachwood, Clear Hoop Pine, Euro Beech,New Guinea Rosewood, Jelutong,NSW Rosewood, Queensland Maple,Silver Ash etc.etc
Check your local area for solid timber joineries or cabinet makers.They could be a great source of materials for you.

This is a great idea. I mill my own wood also with my small table saw and thickness sander.

This is a great idea. I mill my own wood also with my small table saw and thickness sander.

I have thought about milling my own timber but I don't have the equipment - seems complicated ;-)

I have used floataboat.com.au in Victoria. They have a good supply of planking and other timbers as well as other boating bits for modellers
