this is an original Unimat made in Austria
checking Ebay the price range is from $1,000 to $1,500 BUT these machines look to be in very good condition

this has been sitting in a barn for 15+ years with years of dust and grime and some surface rust.

i did plug it in and it works just fine

there are no pully belts

i have used this lathe for milling and lathe work and it is a precision machine

the images are high resolution so click on them to take a close look. what you see is what you get.

do your own research and make an offer

if you are interested send me a PM with your zip code and i will check the shipping via pirate ship which is usually 1/2 the postage or UPS costs.

what i will do is post the highest offer after a few days not the person just the offer just in case someone wants to counter offer.

the machine needs to be restored perhaps taken apart and cleaned up

What a find! First order of business for me would be to replace the cord, switch and plug, but that wouldn’t make me hesitate a second if I came across one (unlikely in Japan  )

These charming and useful devices are surprisingly common.
Worth keeping an eye out at yard/boot sales.
Both these came my way like that, in good condition, just needed stripping and cleaning, came up like new. A simple task.
Rusty examples can provide spares, otherwise avoid them.

Yours are beautiful machines, Pugwash.

U.S. eBay Unimat prices seem to be higher than E.U. or U.K. eBay prices. Some 200,000 were made, or so I'm told, most being sold in Europe, so they are more common on your side of the Pond. The U.S. ones run on 120VAC 60Hz mains, while the U.K. Unimats run on 240VAC 50Hz mains. Pretty much everything on a Unimat is proprietary or damn near it. Unfortunately, on U.S. eBay, at least, there are "pickers" who part out the lathes and the tooling and sell the parts at extortive prices to those Unimat owners who sometimes face the option of having an unusable lathe and milling machine unless they pay a King's ransom for a part. It's rare to see a usable Unimat offered on eBay along with its complete complement of tooling for doing much of anything. All we see are bare bones lathes, and even less. If you want a tailstock, it's going to cost you extra! If you want an accessory, it's going to cost you big money.

Bob, I agree with everything you say.
One of mine came via Ebay UK, the other SL came via a conversation with a modeller at a toy fair. My Kk3 was found at a boot sale.
All 3 are like new and equipped for most practical turning and basic milling.
Shopping for accessories was a nightmare, so once the basic functions could be done I lost enthusiasm for the hunt.
That takes nothing away from the basic UNIMAT, still a marvelous machine.
