This is the Danish steamboat Hjejlen (pronounced Yi-len), a new version of an older kit by Billing Boats. The Hjejlen is an excursion side wheeler, originally built in 1861. It has been rebuilt several times and has the reputation of being the oldest coal-fired steamboat still in operation. In addition to the photos displayed here, there is also a build log stored on SOS. There is a canopy on the actual boat (and model) to protect passengers against the weather, but I have opted to build the boat with a removable canopy. I will be displaying the model on a low shelf, and the canopy, in my opinion, will hide some of the details of the deck and the various deck structures.
