Hello everyone. I'll keep it brief: I've been building models of various kinds for over 40 years. However, I have just recently started working on a wooden ship model (The Endurance from Occre). As it is my first wooden model ship, it could better but I am enjoying learning new skills and am looking forward to wooden ship model number 2!

If the OcCre kit is frustrating, you may want to consider setting it aside for a little while and try a high quality beginner kit. The three-kit series designed by David Antscherl at Model Expo is very popular, reasonably priced and they do not teach bad habits. https://www.modelexpo-online.com/pr...-3-kit-combo-series-with-tools-glue-and-paint There are a number of build logs here at SoS with these three models that you might find helpful deciding.

The reason I chose The Endurance is as a gift for my 90 year old father. The story of Shackelton has fascinated him since he was young and we have had many many discussions relating to the story.

My father-in-law had always enjoyed Shackleton's story. That is the reason I'm building this ship.

I look forward to your thoughts. The original designer of the three boat series know more about ship building than most, including the team at OcCre so I am guessing you will learn a lot more on how vessels were actually built compared to the fantasies coming out of Mataró.
