Francis Drake's galleon...Golden Hind...built from scratch

I am enjoying watching your build in progress. Your techniques are quite ingenious producing excellent results with relatively simple tools and materials and demonstates what can be done on a small budget and with limited facilities. I love many of the more sophisticated models on this website but many of them are just beyond my means and abilities so I find your posts quite inspiring and a useful reminder of the joy in ship model building even with limited resources.

Hi Richard

Great wood working in general and lovely planking. Can you please explain what the parts marked with a ? are? I thought they might be belaying pins but the British did not use them until about 1740 so are they something else?

Thanks

Allan

Thanks Richard, much appreciated.
I thought they may have mistakenly showed the use of belaying pins as Wasa and other ships of various nations used them earlier than the British, I could not find any contemporary models or paintings of British galleons, including drawings by the Van de Veldes that show pins but there is a modern one from 1988 at RMG that shows pins. Maybe Golden Hind was ahead of her time:)
Thanks again for posting the additional drawings. Great model!
Allan
