Pavel Nikitin Oseberg #3 kit #61

A little Re-Do project.

I wasn't happy with the S'board fit of the Shield Plank. I didn't get a good glue result placing it against the hull. The stand-off pieces
that go-between the rail and the hull are very small and tended to break away from the hull when I handled it (Big Fumbly Fingers). I removed the plank and redid the stand-offs with 4X4X4mm pieces. Gluing those to the plank and then to the hull worked out good.

I had no trouble placing the shields.

Tomorrow I'll start a Re-Do on the port side.

(:( Winter has arrived early, ten inches (4cm) of snow yesterday and the current temperature at 10:20 PM is 12F/-11C with the wind gusting at 20+mph)
I have not seen your pre-re-do version passing by, but this is looking nice, Jan.
A nice weather to stay inside and build on.
Regards, Peter

Way to go Jan. You are owning it. You can have -11C……we had a perfect 30C with no wind (for a change ) yesterday so the surf boards came out;). Cheers Grant

Another great tip for bookmarking, thanks.

Hi Peter thanks for looking in. I created a few "Re-Do" areas by not paying attention to what I was doing. Unfortunately a miscued step in past created a later problem. It's all about apply, fit, sand, apply, fit sand and finally glue. It has been a great learning curve.

Jan

Thanks for the compliment, I'm fine tuning things at the moment. There are several places that need to be "fixed". It's not a kit problem, just me and my "all thumbs fingers".

Jan
I know that all too well, the thing with thick fingers... :D So you're happy with the kit? Do you know his ship "The San Bartolome kit" ? Is it any good? I think it's beautiful too...

Yup, this an excellent kit. It requires careful work, quite a bit of dry fitting before final gluing.

I also have the San Bartolome kit "in progress". Currently it's on a shelf collectinhg dust. I hope to get back to it when I "finish" the Oseberg.

Nice - will add your ideas to my memory list of bits to think about. Looks great

Regards,

Shipyard time. Honey do list for Christmas is done, a major snowstorm is currently in progress, 11 inches so far. I've been out and cleaned up the driveway, will probably have to tidy up later.

Managed final deck staining and sorted out the rigging ropes.
