I got a cheap Halcon 1:100 model as a Christmas present and ever since my son in law has asked "Have you finished it yet?" No, but I have started, and have started planking the hull. I must say that as a starter model its OK but the quality is dodgy, instructions challenging, and so I just had to visit the hobby shop to up the quality, bought rigging rings, tiny belay pins and a few grog barrels to boot :). But..... I have a dream...
I want to build from scratch a William Fife yacht, real beautiful yachts in my opinion. A Fife design the 'Tern', here's an example.
I have rather grainy plans of the framing of the Tern.

Question now is - Is there a Forum topic here that deals with scratch builds that can guide me?

Love all the work demonstrated here on Ships Of Scale - Very encouraging!!!

WELCOME TO SoS Z. No matter what else you do, you have to finish the model from your son. It's the law, all over the world!!!!

For the other project I hope you go for it and post a build log. These sailing yachts are gorgeous.

Welcome to the forums !
Unless they have made some changes, you find that a challenging build as the instructions give you nothing in the way of a masting or rigging plan.
I went out to HiS models and purchased their block kit and they have a decent rigging plan on their site that you can get for free. :)

I've been hawking at countless videos to get an idea on that :)

Welcome to the forum, have fun and enjoy the builds.

Take time to use search tool to see what others have done, put the ships name in search and see what pops up.

I think several others here have build this ship and posted a build log.

We would love to see your build log on how your doing your work.

Cool. I'll take some pics in the morning
