Naval events in South Afriac

I believe this could be posted here. Admin must please remove if information is posted on the "wrong" forum. But here we are. A few days later into the South African Naval execersise together with the Russian and Chinese navies. Quite exiting times if you have in interest in international naval and maritime affairs. And of course there are the narrow minded opposition parties that want to score some political points. But here is a screenshot from a local whatsapp group.

Reminds me of the big "RIMPAC" exercises that US and many Pacific allies hold every few years, with Japan, and Australia being part of the games that I remember.

Good to see multiple countries sharing best practices for safety of all at sea!

Pre-1994 the South African Navy held exercices with the Royal Navy. I remember those events from the early 70's when the odd SAAF Bucaneer or sometimes Buccaneers, would fly over our house. I do not thinkthat height restrictions were very much in place those days because I remember them as coming over very, very low and very, very loud. I could make out the white flight helmets and orange or green overalls. Oh boy, what memories.

Your photo of the Bucs, brings back fun memories for me. As part of a completion team, our USAF A-7D's was in RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. We competed against the RAF Buccaneers in a bombing and fighter completion. They were fat and ugly aircraft of their time with a rotating Bombay feature, and our A-7s won almost all awards. I did personally get to go out and "tag" with our Big D paint job the unit commanders Buccaneer when it parked near our hanger.
