The ultimate goal of this kit from Pavel Nikitin.



The first part of the build was to cobble together the building jig. Unfortunately the major pieces of the jig were warped. I sprayed them with warm water, clamped them between a couple of pieces of shelving, waited a couple of days and finally assembled it

The jig, the keel and the frames, dry fit for this first time.

Another dry fit of the frames with all the extensions and spacers added.

A lot of sanding to remove char and shape the pieces.

1st problem with a part not fitting.

I had to trim this part to get a good fit between the frames.

After multiple dry fittings the gluing marathon got started.




All frames and spacers permanently glued.

Another minor problem with a frame

The slots for the spacers are missing from frame #20.



Trimming the tab off the spacer shoud fix this.

A little bit of grinding, sanding, gluing and everything fits.

Todays shipyard chore was to add the last frame to the stern.





Next on the build list is gluing up the bow fillers, sanding them to shape and fitting them to the hull.

Parts sanded to shape and dry fit. "Almost good", need a wee bit more work.




That's it for today. Going out to snowblow the driveway so the Admiral can go shopping.
Overnight snowstorm gifted us with about 6 imches.

I've been fascinated for years by the way ships evolved, from blunt bows and chubby shapes to the modern version.
