La Santa Maria - Artesania Latina 1:65

Finally, I get to open the Santa María kit from Artesanía Latina after completing La Niña and La Pinta. This feels like the final step in building the fleet of Christopher Columbus, and I’m excited to get started. I’ve learned a lot from my previous builds—including all mistakes—so I’m hoping my skills keep improving. This time, I want to be more patient, take things slower, and avoid the errors I made before.

To get started, I went through the model manual—looks like our friends at Artesanía Latina had decided to favor pictures and logos over written instructions.....Let’s see if these pictures really are worth more than a thousand words this time !!

So far, I’ve installed the frames onto the keel and fitted the main deck.

Installed the planks on the lateral frames as shown in the pictures, applying a bit of pressure to make sure everything sits right before cutting.

Today’s progress: the main deck is in place and planked , and the aftcastle planking is complete and ready to be installed.
