customs wants a "toxicity report"

Here's what I know right now - it left Memphis last night. But - there's no delivery date and no mention as to whether or not my statement was accepted. So - I do not know if it's on its way, or if it's merely being moved between customs hubs.

If FedEx has it then you may as well forget it. I've lived at my current address for thirty years and they still can't find me. I always have to go looking for my package. I'm sick of explaining things to the driver so I try to use UPS whenever I can. They never fail. Pete

Sorry to see this happening. I stopped ordering from outside the US after the first Trump tariffs were put into effect. Yes, this inconvenient, but I have noticed that I am spending a lot less, and focusing on things I currently have waiting in the stash.

FedEx has to be the worst shipper I've ever had to deal with... I guarantee you will be hit with a "Brokerage / Clearance Entry Fee." That's if they even get the package to you...

FedEx owes me thousands at this point for lost packages and overcharges. I'll never use them again. 0 out of 5 stars
All the major courier companies are the same in that regard. The only thing that differs is the amount they charge for "brokerage handling". Whether it's FedEx, UPS, or DHL, they all want somewhere between $20 and $30 CAD to handle the paperwork. It used to be if CanadaPost (CanPar) were handling the shipment, you only got charged the taxes on the purchase, but I haven't used them for international shipments for eons... so maybe they're on the same milk run for handling fees now too.

That said, most of what I get from outside Canada and the US I use DHL as they seem the most economical for me. If coming out of the States, I tend to go with UPS, mostly since I use a UPS Store in Great Falls, MT that offers a redirection service to get items to me from suppliers that don't ship outside the contiguous lower 48.

Artesania Latina offers water-based acrylic paints specifically formulated for scale modeling and crafting. Because they are non-hazardous, low-odor emulsions, there is typically no standard Safety Data Sheet (SDS) required. However, as with most acrylic modeling paints, users should always use them in well-ventilated areas.

Key Safety & Handling Guidelines
Non-hazardous in normal use. However, prolonged breathing of vapor or spray mist may cause slight respiratory irritation. Use a properly ventilated space or wear respiratory protection when airbrushing. Prolonged or repeated contact may cause minor irritation. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use. Direct contact may cause slight irritation. Flush eyes cautiously with water for 15 minutes. Keep tightly closed in a cool, dry place (ideally between 1°C and 50°C) and protect from freezing.Dispose of dried paint in your normal household waste stream. Do not pour wet paint or cleaning rinse-water directly into household drain.

Next time I'll use that. Thx. But it got through customs this time - even with the simple note I provided. The kit gets here on Monday.

Well hey, since you mentioned ROS, I also have a package from RopesOfScale being sorted in US customs right now. And something from Ukraine, shipping soon? Such a week.

Ordered the Pen Duick model kits with some paint from Artesania Latina - and customs wanted a toxicity report from me - referencing all kinds of TCSA docs and numbers. So I sent em a word doc stating that it was a wooden model kit with some acrylic paints included - and to please remove the paints if they are the issue requiring a toxicity report for a wooden model boat. I added that they could give the paints to their kids for their hobbies - hope it was enough.
I had a similar experience with an HO model loco; after too long await I contacted the seller in the US, he told me it had been returned because of the paint used in China, & a 'special' grey plastic postal bag!!?? He sent it again with no further issue. Absolute BS.

Yeah ... looking like rejections are due to the politics of the specific customs agent processing the package. But in my case, they did accept my note explaining it's just acrylic hobby paint. Either that or they removed the paints as I asked them to do if the paints were the holdup. I'll find out tomorrow when it is delivered, if the paints are still in there ... or not.

YAHOO - got it. With the paints too, no less. Bureaucracy. Not sure what we gained from it. But they accepted my personal note about the paints being hobby paints, as satisfying their toxicity reporting requirements. Now to see what's in the rest of the box - only just opened the cover.

Cheers.
