I have been out of it for a while. It was getting hard to read, although I could see well enough for everyday life. Had 2nd cataract fixed six days ago and vision is now superb. Don't need glasses at all for long distance, and for reading, an old pair of glasses has started working again.

Don't need glasses at all for long distance,
The most amazing thing about cataract surgery for me was after the first eye was done, the color of the sky was so different. The "new" eye saw what was truly blue and the one yet to be done saw a brownish blue. It is such a gradual change I never realized how things had changed.

That was my experience also.

I'll be having that done before too long, but the thought of my eye balls being being touched by any kind of blade terrifies me!
You really don't feel anything, and neither can you see anything whilst it is being done. My first took 15 minutes, and the 2nd took 45 minutes because it was a superior lens they put in

My eye doctor said "you probably want to know what were going to do. We'll take a sharp knife and remove the old lens. Then we'll insert a new one and unfold it" All I could imagine was sitting there while an Xacto knife moved steadily towards my eye. In reality there was nothing to be afraid of. You don't feel, see or hear anything even with no anesthetic being necessary.

Yayy!..for Cataract surgery! Some important decisions need to be made prior to surgery but It's a process with a great result

Well… I had a torn retina and was immediately given a local anesthetic in my eye.
You are fully conscious during the surgery. It's true that you don't see or feel anything, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the anecdotes the surgeon and OR assistants were sharing with each other.
I actually got reprimanded for moving my head. Easier said than done when you're trying not to laugh....
